Defensive Tactics & Intermediate Weapons
At DTAC, minimum is not an option we offer.
While it is impossible to replicate every potential scenario or aggressor action, size and strength are not as important as technique and flexibility. Psychomotor skills diminish over time, and twenty skills diminish faster than five. That is why we focus on an individual’s capability; mastering the techniques and knowledge that build confidence in a student’s decision-making, de-escalation skills, and appropriate threat response actions using a variety of available tools and platforms.
While the training is typically geared towards law enforcement and security professionals, private citizens are equally encouraged to attend. Civilians will receive the manufacturers basic training, with the option to schedule follow-on proficiency training.
Successful completion of any DT/IW course requires the student to demonstrate the requisite skill level in accordance with manufacturer, state, or agency minimum certification standards.
